How was the weather this week?:

After the rainy season ended in mid-October, every day is humid and sunny, and we rarely have clouds to block the intense UVB rays of the sun. Such is life on the equator! While an average high of 94-100 degrees Fahrenheit is hot to me, this time of year is considered the cold season. (What!?) A common greeting this time of year is “Hono boobingol?” or, "how is the cold?" I can’t completely disagree as now we get a little taste of cool weather when temps drop to around 65 degrees between 9-10 p.m.

What animals did I see this week? :

Animals co-exist with humans in my village, and one cannot walk more than a few yards without noticing them. I’m awoken daily by my neighbor’s roosters greeting the morning loudly. As the weather is so warm here, chicks, ducks and wild turkeys hatch easily in the wild, and I’m sure to see multiple families of up to ten chicks pecking for food alongside the road on my daily walks. Families of donkeys and goats roam all around town, hollering to each other loudly at all hours of the day and night. We have to sogi them (chase them out of the yard) often when they start to get into food or wander into the sleeping huts.
