Didn't Light it but Gotta Fight it

Why does the community have this need?:

Thankfully, the work they do includes more than the tragic, dangerous elements of pulling people out of burning homes or collapsed buildings. The firefighters are a very social organization and when they aren't putting out fires, they can be found out and about in the community. For instance, the firefighters recently made a trip to a children’s hospital dressed as superheroes! At large outdoor events, such as festivals, they are also on call, just in case an incident arises.

Is this need being met? How?:

On June 2, 1884, neighbors gathered together to form a human chain, passing buckets of water from the river to put out the fire that was threatening to spread through their community. Nowadays, the volunteers receive training and tools to tackle these disasters. June 2nd marks a national holiday in honor of the firefighters’ noble social services over the many years this organization has been in operation.
