The North of Spain is known for its rainy and cloudy weather. But honestly, I didn't mind it too much! It reminded me a lot of the weather in Seattle where I'm from. The only crazy thing was how windy it was--there were times when I felt like I was being blown down the street!
When I took a day trip to Gijon (a city a bit north of Oviedo, known for its beautiful cliffs overlooking the sea), I saw a ton of seagulls and other sea birds. But, because I spent all of my time in cities this week, I didn't see too many animals.
The coolest thing that I saw in nature this week was the cliffs overlooking the sea in Gijon! They were so beautiful and it was great to feel the sea breeze. There's a huge park in the center of the city that leads to the cliffs, and it has a really interesting sculpture titled Elogio del Horizonte (In Praise of the Horizon).
