From December through April, it is the rainy season here in Malawi. The days are very warm and humid, but it typically tends to rain for about an hour or two every day in the late afternoon. This week brought surprisingly little rain, and it was cooler than normal.
Some animals I saw this week included the giant African snail, the piebald crow, and the African striped skink! I also saw some cows, goats and chickens.
Malawi is home to Mount Mulanje, the tallest mountain in South-Central Africa at 3002 meters (9849 feet). I had the opportunity to hike this beautiful mountain this past weekend with a group of Michigan State medical students that I live with.
