This week in Bariloche, the average temperature was 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It was partly sunny most days, with an hour or two of rain each day as well. It was pretty cold, so I had to wear a sweatshirt and raincoat (or jacket) every day. I enjoyed spending time outside in the woods and in the Andes mountains. Fun fact: on September 22nd, the transition from winter to spring occured!
This week I saw two different types of birds! The first bird was the black-faced ibis, which is a medium to large, South American bird that lives in the open grasslands, valleys and wetlands of Chile and Argentina. It digs in the soil with its beak in order to find worms and insects to eat. This bird is very vocal (makes a lot of noise!) and is known for its trumpet-sounding cries. You can listen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJZxrHyIz7M.
The second bird I saw was the crested caracara, which is a bird of prey in the falcon family.
