I attended four main events for Chinese/Lunar New Year. The first one took place on February 16th, where I went to Victoria Park to browse the flower market. Locals usually buy plants that bring fortune, wealth and love, such as cherry blossoms, orchids and mandarin trees. On February 17th, I attended Cathay international night parade in Tsim Sha Tsui. There were many performers, music and floats that illuminated the streets. It was free to watch, and the floats were brightly decorated. On the 18th, I went to Victoria Habour to watch the fireworks show. It was a 20-minute long extravaganza. This year's theme was "Prosperity Gallops Across Hong Kong". The last event I attended was the Well-wishing Festival. Attending these events was a very insightful experience because it was my first time celebrating Chinese New Year in Asia. It was an honor and privilege to surround myself with the traditions that locals participate in.
