It is getting very hot in Paraguay! January is the beginning of the summer in the country. Since Paraguay is in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are reverse from the US. It has taken some time getting used to the heat in December and January! Coming from the Northeastern part of America, I am used to lots of snow and ice this time of year. But in Paraguay, this is the hottest time of the year! It has been very hot and humid--typically in the high 90's or more than 100 degrees, and also very humid. Luckily there have been rain showers that come through the city. They generally help cool down the temperature and bring a refreshing breeze.
This weekend, I went to a park in the center of the city. It was very tropical, with lots of flowers and green trees! I saw a really big snail--it was massive! The snail was crawling along the path, and I first noticed it when I sat down to fix my shoe. I soon noticed that there were several of these snails in the park.
