And I must say, I have been getting more than just the ‘best.’ I have visited places that I previously had only dreamed about visiting. I have made incredible friends from so many different backgrounds that I plan on staying in touch with even after we go our separate ways. I have eaten some of the best food ever. I have surprised myself with my exponential progress in learning Hebrew. And of course, I have been making memories that will last me a lifetime!
I cannot believe that I visited the Holy Land at the age of 19. When I was in high school, I told myself I was going to visit Israel, but I thought of it as a trip I’d take later when I was older. As you may remember, I visited a lot of special places like the Western Wall, Church of the Nativity, Jordan River Masada and well, the list goes on, but I cannot wait to keep exploring Israel!
Unfortunately, a large portion of my friends are leaving in two weeks because they only came for a semester. Although it breaks my heart a little, I am so grateful for having the opportunity to interact with them because I had so much fun, and our adventures together are memories I will never forget.
Also, as you already know, I have been enjoying the food here very much. I’ve had hummus, falafel, Schnitzel, Shakshuka, Arab pastries and so much more! Remember what my favorite dish is? That’s right! Shawarma! I have probably mentioned it in almost all of my articles. It’s just that good! That’s one of the first things you should try when you make a stop in Israel. Order chicken Shawarma, preferably from Jerusalem….that is my absolute favorite!
I’m so proud of my progress with Hebrew.
