Bon Appétit!

I think what makes French desserts so unique is the bold and rich flavors while never being overly sweet. I doubt that I will ever be able to find a croissant back home that meets the standard of those in Paris. 

How is the food prepared?:

Pastries are made fresh daily and put out on display in limited amounts every morning at boulangeries (French bakeries). This means that the most popular pastries and desserts do sell out and fast! The bakery located right outside my studio opens at 7:00 a.m. every day with a fully stocked display case and is usually nearly sold out by 12 p.m. But there's often still a line of people outside hoping to score their favorite sweet treat throughout the day!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

The French truly believe that food is meant to be enjoyed and savored. You will never see a Parisian eating on the Metro or while walking outside. Eating is a chance to sit down, relax and enjoy the finer things in life. This is evident when considering how cafe seating is organized, with street-side seating that is so unique to Paris. Being able to sit out on the street is incredible because you feel like time comes to a standstill while you are able to watch the city come to life before your eyes. It almost feels like you are watching a movie, but even better, because you are a part of it all!
