Paris is a large city filled with plenty of opportunities for people to connect with nature as well as their own creativity and passion. It's just that sometimes finding nature in the midst of a busy city can be hard. So for this field note, I thought it would be interesting to think instead about how the surroundings in a city can affect the daily lives of its residents.
The environment of Paris is unique because it is a city that has been able to preserve much of its history, art and cultural sites while still being metropolitan and innovative. But it also offers the people that live in the city plenty of opportunities to be close to nature in parks and open spaces.
While one of the most important features of Paris is its public transportation, the proximity of many areas means you often have the option of walking when you need to get around. For example, within just a two-block radius of my apartment, there are six food markets making it unnecessary to travel far to pick up daily essentials.
A large number of parks in Paris also allow you to escape the hectic city without ever having to leave it, making it a hub for people of all ages to play, relax or simply take in the scenery.
