Au Revoir!

Lunchtime is not only seen as a chance to have a break from school but as a way to learn, it is believed that kids can be taught to eat in the same way that they can be taught to read and write. Instead of getting a packed lunch (it is discouraged and does not happen), kids eat food from the cafeteria or canteen instead. The food at canteens cost less than three euros, are meticulously picked by a dietician and sourced locally to make sure that kids are having fresh and nutritious meals. The interesting part is that they don't have typical "kid" food like mac and cheese or chicken nuggets, but rather the same foods that adults eat and are served at restaurants (this way "adult" food is not "gross," but normal). The food is served on regular glass plates with glass cups and normal silverware (no plastic knives or cups!) and kids are expected to sit down and enjoy their food for at least 30 minutes before going to play. This unique system gives kids the opportunity to try new foods and learn to eat properly!

Well, that's all for now! Together, we have navigated the Metro, traveled through Europe, learned about French cuisine and so much more. I hope that you have enjoyed and learned from my adventures and perhaps inspired you to have your own one day; your journey is just getting started! While my journey with you has come to an end, my travels will continue and my stories will live on by applying what I learned abroad to my daily life. It has been so much fun getting to listen to your interests and answering your wonderful questions. Thank you for following along!
