Rive Droite or Rive Gauche?

Its most prominent neighborhoods include Le Marais, famous for its boutiques, nightlife and art galleries as well as Montmarte, the source of inspiration for many French artists and a popular location for films. Where I think Rive Droite stands out is with its options for shopping with areas like the Champs Elysees, Galeries Lafayette and Rivoli offering endless opportunities to shop to your heart's content.

Parisians living on opposite banks have a friendly rivalry, with each determined to say that they are the 'best' side of Paris!

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

While both sides are in a rivalry, I would not say that one is better than the other, as it really depends on what you are looking to do and see. Each side has unique and interesting features that give it its own distinct look and feel. If you are more interested in 'hipster' neighborhoods with the best bookstores and cafes, I would say Rive Gauche is the perfect choice for you! If you prefer to shop and explore posh neighborhoods, then you belong in Rive Droite!

Since living in Rive Gauche, I like to say that it is the best side, but in reality, I found myself spending equal amounts of time in each and enjoying what they both have to offer!
