To help people get up Buda Hill to see a beautiful old castle, they can ride on a funicular. It's a special kind of train that goes up a steep hill. It is very beautiful, with glossy, dark red paint and bright gold letters. It is almost 150 years old and is the second oldest funicular in the world! have seen it in many movies and magazines. I was very excited to use this transportation to reach Buda Castle at the top of Buda Castle Hill.
I had to wait in line for a long time to buy the tickets. Many people like to take pictures of the funicular because they have never seen one before. It is a popular tourist attraction. When I finally got to the front of the line, I slipped into the creaky wooden seats of the railway car. Slowly, the funicular began to crawl up the hill and under the bridges over the tracks. The ride only lasted three minutes, but it would have taken me 30 minutes to climb to the top by myself. Plus, I felt like a royal queen on my ride to the top.
Funiculars are used in places with steep mountains and hills, like Budapest. We even have one in the United States in Johnstown, Pennsylvania!
