Transportation is the movement of people and other physical goods from one point to another. It is an important part of every society because of its many benefits. In fact, without transportation, I wouldn't be here writing to you! Humans have developed many means of transportation such as cars, airplanes, motorcycles, bicycles, skates, ships, canoes, ferries and more. What is your favorite method of traveling from place to place? Mine is taking airplanes.
Different places have different means of transportation depending on the size of the land. For example, big cities have more sophisticated means of transportation than small villages. Here in Mbarara, a town of over 195,000 people, the means of transportation include cars, motorcycles and bicycles. While some own cars, many rely on public transport. A lot of townsfolk ride minivans called "taxis," which are similar to buses in the U.S. Others use cabs called "special hires." These cabs work like “Uber Pool,” where multiple riders can share one car to various drop-off points. There are normal buses here as well, which take people to faraway places.
Motorcycles, called “boda-boda,” are used to travel shorter distances.
