Howa (pronounced "how-uh") is a twelve year old girl I tutor after school every week! She was super excited to answer all of my questions and could not wait to tell students in the United States about her life. Although she can speak a little English, our interview was spoken entirely in Spanish, and I have translated her responses below!
This morning before school, I ate a few little biscuits and drank milk for breakfast. I heard that people in America keep their milk in the refrigerator. That’s crazy! In Spain, our milk comes in a box and we never drink it cold.
For lunch today, I had a bocadillo with ham and cheese. ("Bocadillo" is Spanish for sandwich.) I also ate gazpacho. It’s similar to tomato soup, but we eat it cold. You can buy gazpacho at stores here in little containers that look like juice boxes.
Tonight, for dinner, my mom is making grilled tuna and potatoes. For dessert, I hope I can have strawberry yoghurt!
I live in an apartment with my two sisters, two brothers, mom, and grandma. Our house has three bedrooms and one bathroom. My mom likes to keep it clean all of the time. I share a room with my sisters. The walls are painted yellow and decorated with different pictures we’ve drawn.
