After waiting for a month, my friends and I were finally able to visit the Tsz Shan Monastery, which was built only a few years ago in 2015. It features a statue of Guan Yin, a very important figure in Buddhism, that is over 200 feet tall! Inside the monastery, photos aren't allowed, but inside there are more statues of figures from Buddhism.
I learned about Buddhism and the many rituals that are followed by its believers and worshippers. I learned that when entering the temple, you are not allowed to step on the small step between you and the inside, but you must step over it. I learned that Buddhist art goes back centuries! Under the huge statue is an art museum with many artifacts from Buddhism. I also witnessed a process involving bowls of water where worshippers filled the bowls with water, carried them in concentration to another pot and then dumped out the water.
