One of my favorite activities is skiing. I started skiing when I was six and have spent lots of time on the slopes in Montana, Austria, and even Kyrgyzstan! I love to explore what skiing is like in foreign countries when I travel. I think it's so interesting to compare and contrast snow sports in the United States and other countries.
I had a very lucky opportunity to spend a week in Bakuriani, a ski resort in south-central Georgia. It's one of the main ski destinations in Georgia. Bakuriani is located in the Lesser Caucasus mountain range. Many locals and tourists visit Bakuriani in the winter to ski, snowboard and enjoy a variety of other activities. It's a large resort so there are many restaurants, hotels, condos, and entertainment. There are several cafes at the base and the top of the lifts. I think it's quite similar to other mid-size resorts I've visited in the United States. However, instead of marking the trails' level by green circle, blue square, and black diamond, the difficulties are easy, intermediate, advanced and expert. In Bakuriani, there are two main sections of the mountain, Didveli and Kokhta. There are seven chair lifts, one gondola and 11 T-bars. There are 18 miles of trails on the mountain!
