My full name is Febrizia Maria Alvez dos Santos, but you can call me Sakin. I am in the 7th grade and am twelve years old.
For breakfast every day I eat sasoro, which is rice porridge.
For lunch, I have rice and cassava leaves.
For dinner, I have rice with Kanko (water spinach).
I live in a small house near where I go to school. It is in the main part of town. My house only has three rooms. Our kitchen and bathroom are outside which is normal where I live.
I have lots of chores at home. Every day, I cook meals for my family and after we eat, it is my job to wash the dishes. I also have to sweep the house and clean up every day.
My mom is a kindergarten teacher. My dad is a farmer.
School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends around noon. It's very normal here for class to start late though because most students walk to school and some live far away. The teachers also often come late.
"Island time" is a part of Timorese culture. Promptness is not valued here as it is in the U.S.Pages
