France is a country that is well known for its food culture. When I arrived in France, I was overwhelmed by the amazing chocolate croissants, baguettes, and cheese. However, I quickly learned that in France, the food is more than just food. It is a culture. One meal can last over 3 hours and include 4 different courses. Finally, you finish off with more cheese and a little espresso. Food is a chance to connect with people, to talk, to laugh, and to share delicious flavors.
One special food I got to try on the very first I arrived in France was a crêpe. Crêpes are a very thin pancake that can be filled with sweet fillings like butter and sugar or savory fillings such as meat and cheese. I went to a cute little restaurant in the heart of Grenoble called Crêperie Rouge Délice. I ordered a Galette De Sarrasin which is a special buckwheat crêpe from Brittany, France.
