Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Alex brought to life his new cartoon character that has been in his head a long time! He regularly draws cartoons with his characters - Ken (Anxiety Chicken) and Pokey La Worm. This week he also drew Thaddeus JR Esquire the III, who joined the other characters. Thaddeus, also known as “odd sock”, is looking for his mate. He makes everyone feel uncomfortable because he is odd. Ken and Pokey are glad to have a new friend and hope he finds his mate soon! Sandrine really enjoys her daily ritual of taking her tea out to the “back deck”. It is a small porch on the starboard side of the ship with a really old, but comfortable, office chair. She finds it peaceful to watch the waves and birds while enjoying her tea.

What did I read this week?:

Doug just finished reading the book Shift, by Hugh Howey. I counted at least four more books in his office ready to go! Heike is reading Across Arctic America, by Knud Rasmussen. He was a Danish explorer who grew up in Greenland and wrote about his experiences in the early 1900s. Bill brings a new book on every expedition, and this time he is reading As You Wish, by Cary Elwes.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

Beth enjoyed running around the helipad which is located on the stern (back) of the boat and seeing birds playing in the ship’s wake. The whole crew has enjoyed putting together the Lego Arctic Explorer Ship! It is complete and now sits at the front of the conference room. Even scientists have fun with Lego, and almost every day the Lego characters and scenes change.
