Our News

It was an outdoor concert at the university where I work. It was really cool because everybody got to sit in the grass and listen to them play, and they even covered a few songs from bands in the U.S. that I knew!

What did I read this week?:

I read an interesting article this week called, "Meet Sunglass Cat, an Instagram star with an eye-opening message of acceptance." It's the story of how a cat, who has a rare eye condition, became famous for wearing bedazzled sunglasses that are used to protect his eyes. Since the cat, named Bagel, has to wear sunglasses at all times, his owner started decorating the glasses, and now Bagel has over 600 pairs!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I didn't play any real games or sports. However, I have the DuoLingo language learning app, which I use to practice my Spanish. Sometimes it feels like a game, because if you make a mistake you lose a "heart," which is like a life.

Other news from this week:

The university I work at, Universidad Nacional de Colombia had a strike this past week. Some classes ended up being cancelled, and one of the entrances to the university was closed. The university is known to have strikes. They had a strike last year that lasted over nine weeks, so the students didn't have classes for over two months! However, they had to make up for all of the missed time after the strike ended.
