The best meal this week was the corrientazo I ate at the local restaurant I visit on most Sundays. Remember when I said corrientazo refers to a traditional Colombian lunch? It’s not one set meal in particular, but rather the different variations of the same general traditional Colombian lunch that includes meat, beans, rice, plantain and salad. This time the meat was fried chicken with BBQ sauce! It made me very nostalgic for North Carolina, as barbeque is very important to our state. In addition to being delicious, the entire outing of this meal was amazing because a backpacking couple from Argentina was there playing live music. It was also lovely because I have the same server every time, an older Colombian woman, and by now we are great friends! Another funny thing is that she always tells me what to order, but she’s always right about what I’ll enjoy the most.
