For my performance I sang a song called “Maitighar” by Anju Pant. To memorize the song, I played it over and over—it's really fun and catchy! Currently, Nepal is celebrating Tihar, a five-day-long festival of lights, so there is a lot of Nepali music playing in the streets and people dancing.
I spent five days and six nights in Larjung, where I stayed with a wonderful homestay family. On the last night, we had a farewell party where we ate a lot of yummy homemade food and danced to many Nepali songs.
I am reading Dune by Frank Herbert, a science fiction book set in another universe.
I didn't play any games or sports (unless trekking counts as a sport). We trekked for about five to six hours every day as we moved from village to village.
There are 14 mountains around the world that are over 8,000 meters (26,246 feet), and Nepal is home to eight of those mountains. On this trip I got to see two of those peaks: Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Besides being incredible to look at, the mountain ranges in Nepal feed the rivers with water that is then used for farming downstream in the foothills.
