Irish people speak English with an Irish accent. People in different parts of Ireland can have very different accents, depending on the county where they're from. I'm lucky that I can understand my Irish professors, but sometimes I can hardly tell what people in my neighborhood are saying! In addition to English, most signs also include words in Irish, which all Irish students learn in school.
Ireland uses the euro, like 18 other countries in the European Union. This makes traveling to other European countries very easy. Most of the time, though, I pay for things with credit card.
A bottle of water costs around 2 euros. To save money and help protect the environment by cutting down on plastic, I fill up my reusable water bottle at home every morning.
My friends and I lined up at 9:45 in the morning on Saturday for pastries. Run by local Dubliners, Sceal Bakery only sells its pastries at weekend markets, and they sell out almost immediately! I tried an artichoke and coffee creme croissant-muffin, which sounds weird but tasted delicious. I also had a danish with pumpkin, perfect for an autumn morning.
