What main languages are spoken here?:

Belgium has three official national languages: French, Dutch and German. The Brussels capital area is officially bilingual (French and Dutch). Typically, Dutch (specifically the Flemish dialect) is spoken in the northern Flemish region of Belgium because of the influence from the Netherlands. French is the official language in most of the Walloon Region, except for some aresa in the east which speak German. Regardless, many Belgians speak more than one of these languages.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I ate was Flemish stew, which is known as stoofvlees in Dutch or carbonade flamande in French. The stew consisted of beef cooked in Belgian beer. Belgians are very proud of their beer, and it certainly made for a delicious sauce that paired nicely with fresh mashed potatoes!

What music did I listen to this week?:

While I did not listen to a lot of music during my trip, Brussels has a rich and complex musical history, with inlfuences from the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France.
