Korean is the main language spoken here and every day I am offered an opportunity to practice! Many locals will come up to you because they are curious and the language barrier doesn't stop them from asking you many questions. It is wonderful to have so many opportunities to share my culture and learn theirs. There are always opportunities to learn!
Won is the currency here and it is a simple exchange rate from American dollars. 1000 won is roughly 1 American dollar. So 10,000 won is...? $10!
A bottle of water costs as low as 600 won but typically 1000 won. That is 43 cents - 1 dollar!
The best meal I had this week was at a Buddhist temple. When you eat at a temple, you need to finish everything on your plate to show you appreciate and value the work that was put into creating the meal. They do not eat meat, so we had many forest vegetables, tofu and of course, rice!
I listened to Kpop this week! New Jeans is a very popular girl group here and all of my students love when I play their music before class starts.
