Of course, in keeping with my American-ness, I do carry around a hydroflask pretty much wherever I go to avoid using the plastic water bottles.
Every Monday, my friend and I go out to dinner to try new spots around town. This week, we were both craving some grilled meats, so we went to our favorite spot: Antica Trattoria Papei. We ordered one bruschetta (toasted bread) with tomatoes and another with mushrooms as our appetizers and a platter of grilled meat (pork chops, ribs and a sausage) to share for our meal. It was fantastic! Every Sunday I also order pizza to go from a restaurant near my house, and I always get the same pizza – Una Calabrese (a pizza with pepperoni, olives, and spicy sausage sauce called nduja, topped with fresh arugula). Both meals were delicious!
Of course, this week, I had to listen to Bad Bunny. After the Superbowl, which I was not able to watch since it began at 12:30 am Italy time, I woke up early the next morning and watched Bad Bunny’s half time show. It’s important for me to stay in tune with American culture even when I’m not there.
This week I went out for coffee with a friend to meet some of his classmates. This was super fun, since all three of them (his friends and him) are in University studying languages. As we sipped on our coffees and pastries, we switched back and forward between English and Italian. I think it’s so cool to be able to express yourself in whatever language best fits the situation/story.
