I've been making a playlist, called "CR acquisitions", for any songs that I hear and enjoy. I have also been practicing my Spanish by looking up karaoke versions of some of my favorite Spanish-language songs and singing along. I'm curious what kind of music we will listen to in my dance class, and look forward to being exposed to new types of rhythms and styles.
In honor of Women's History Month, the campus had an outdoor screening of the Barbie movie. The whole screening was actually in English with Spanish subtitles, so we didn't get to practice our Spanish this time. We had lots of snacks and enjoyed the movie!
I'm currently reading a book called Buckeye by Patrick Ryan. I'm about 30% of the way through, and enjoying it so far. It is historical fiction set in Ohio, starting at the onset of World War II.
During our international student orientation, we played a fun game that involved a parachute! Basically, everyone grabbed the sides of the parachute, and if the color you were touching was called out, you had to run out under the parachute and switch with someone.
Back in Kansas and Missouri, the time zone shifted one hour ahead to account for Daylight Savings Time! This means I am now one hour behind my family and friends back in the Midwest because Costa Rica does not observe Daylight Savings Time.
