Thai is the main language spoken here. Everyone studies English in school, though, and a lot of people use a bit of English to speak with me!
We use the Thai baht here! In my wallet, I have 100-baht bills, 50-baht bills, 20-baht bills, five-baht coins and one-baht coins. There are also 1000-baht bills, 500-baht bills, 10-baht coins and two-baht coins. There are no "cents" in Thailand, so the smallest coin is the one-baht coin. One US dollar is equal to 30 Thai baht.
A big bottle of water costs about 15 Thai baht, or about 50 cents.
The best meal this week was a family-style meal that I shared with some of my friends at a seafood restaurant. A family-style meal means that we ordered a bunch of different dishes and shared them all! We shared crispy pork, a Thai-style cucumber salad with shrimp and a dish of salmon and shrimp in a delicious, spicy sauce.
Just like I would if I were at home in the United States, I listened to Taylor Swift this week! I also heard a lot of music at cafes and at the gym. They both play a lot of American music, and I actually heard a lot of Justin Bieber songs this week, too!
