Cuenca, Ecuador has lots of traffic! However, there's public transporation offered, such as taxis and buses. Since 2014, Ecuador has been trying to start a train service, too. However, this has not yet happened, as due to social issues, it has been creating problems such as accidents and delays Although there is lots of traffic, Ecuador has many ways of transporting people from one place to another!
People here can either take taxis or the bus. Either method of transportation is extremely cheap, which I enjoy! It only costs 30 cents to get on the bus, and the price for a taxi depends on the distance you want to travel. To take the bus, travelers have to purchase a card. You scan this card each trip, and it deducts 30 cents. Every time you're running out of money, you have to recharge your card. For taxis, you pay with loose change. Prices range from $1 to $2.75, which is extremely cheap!
At first I felt intimidated traveling around the city, because I thought I was going to get lost! I was happy to discover that the buses have a screen that indicates what stops comes next, so that helps me get to my destination!
