Moni! Muli bwanji? Hello! How are you? My name is Rabria Moore. I’m a 22-year-old from Durant, Mississippi. I spent the past four years studying journalism and political science at the University of Mississippi. I enjoy research, especially research that allows me to understand the experiences of Black people across the world. My senior thesis explored how rooting for people with your ancestry goes deeper than skin color.
I’ve always wanted to travel abroad. I had no idea what The Fulbright Program was or that it was a possibility until an advisor at my university approached me. I decided to apply, and after months of waiting, I was fortunate enough to be accepted! My original plan was to attend graduate school, but when the opportunity to live and teach abroad presented itself, it was too good to turn down!
After I graduated from the University of Mississppi, I uprooted my small town Mississippi life and moved to Lusaka, Zambia to work as an ETA (English Teaching Assistant) at Evelyn Hone College. In this role, I co-teach a journalism course while helping edit stories for the college’s radio station. I can’t wait to share this adventure with you and hear all of the stories you all will have to tell!
