Head over to my album and check out what I saw in these places!
Climbing up the colina (hill) to Park Güell was a long walk. Güell was designed by Antoní Gaudí, a Catalan architect renowned around the world for his gorgeous creations. His idea while creating Park Güell was to merge nature and architecture into a seemless whole. Our tour guide told us that Gaudi viewed plants and vegetation as nature's architecture and only seeked to mimic it in his art. For example, because nature has no hard corners or edges, most of Gaudi's buildings are rounded by design. The results are beautiful and eccentric! Originally, Park Güell was meant to be a hill of wealthy estates for more than 300 families, but only three houses were built after funding fell through. Qué pena! (What a shame!)
