Traveler Bio

Hei Hei! Hello! My name is Rachel. I am a scientist who loves our earth and all animals. When I work outside, I wear my raincoat, but when I work inside, I wear my lab coat.

In the Arctic Circle, I study the Greenland shark as part of the Fulbright U.S Student Program. They are gigantic sharks who are known for living at the bottom of the ocean for up to 300 years! They need our help and protection because there are not many Greenland sharks left in the world. Like a detective, I am trying to find the shark's DNA in the ocean water. If I find their DNA, it lets me know that the sharks were in the specific area before!

I am new to Norway, its language, nature and culture. Together, we will ask lots of questions, make some mistakes, learn, and ultimately, become better world citizens!
