Sometimes, it's tempting to think of my perspective as the "American" perspective and that of Bolivians I meet as the "Bolivian" perspective. But both Bolivia and the U.S. are very diverse. My perspective may be very different from another American's perspective because my family moved to the U.S. from another country and because I grew up in California. It's important to remember that everyone's perspective is different and valuable. How may your perspective be different from other classmates? How may it be different from your teacher? Or the community in New York City? Or outside of New York City? Recognizing different perspectives and appreciating the difference is very important!
