How Everywhere in Nepal Feels Like Home

Whether I’m having a rough day or a great day, I always look forward to tea time. It’s when everyone takes a break from whatever they are doing and sits down with family and friends to chat and laugh together.

Thinking back about my life in my college dorm and my home, my room has always been what makes me feel most at home. It's where my pillows and blankets are, where I store all of my memories and where my friends and family are sleeping down the hall. When traveling, though, I keep personal belongings to a minimum and live out of my backpack everywhere I go. I’m constantly surrounded by friendly, but only vaguely familiar faces. Yet when I sit down and slowly sip my cup of tea with them, I easily forget all of those things. We chat like long lost friends, but really, I’ve just made lifelong friends.
