Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

In my film class at my university, we had to make a playlist of music to get prepared and get us in the mood for a short film we had to present. So, I've been listening to a lot of nice instrumentals.

At a local parade the neighborhood I'm in had this past week, there was a live band and also drummers. The whole neighboorhood gathered around to eat and enjoy.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My homestay mom took her son and I around to all these neighborhoods a few days ago. All the neighborhoods threw their own parties, so we traveled around! First, we started in our neighboorhood where they had a live band, and all the people of the neighborhood had long dining tables in the middle of the road that was blocked off. They sat, talked and enjoyed meals together. We walked a few blocks after that into another neighborhood that had the most beautiful fireworks I've ever seen. Everyone gathered at the park there and sat in the gravel to watch them.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I read a book I brought from home called "Gotham Diaries," along with another book from a local store here about the art of scrapbooking!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

The only games I've played are on my phone. In the morning or afternoon metro/bus rides, I play The New York Times' word games. My favorites are "Wordle" and "Connections."

Other news from this week:

Here's a fun cultural fact: a 104-year-old man named Manuel Álvarez Escudero won against much younger rivals in an official chess tournament in Madrid, making him the world's oldest active player!
