Now and for the next year and a half, I've settled in Taipei, Taiwan in one of the most bustling districts to learn Mandarin and to work on my program! I currently live in 文山區 Wenshan District and commute to school on the bus or Taiwan's ultra-fast Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system to visit all other parts of the city.
Taipei is famous for not only being the capital of Taiwan, but for its amazing landmarks, history, foods and bustling pace! Some of my favorite things about exploring the city include walking the beautiful riverside parks, eating at the local night markets and seeing the beautiful and ancient temples that exist all around here!
Another really cool thing about this big city is that it doesn't much of the time feel like a big city because the people who live here are very kind and easygoing, so much so that it has a special name in mandarin Chinese, "臺灣人情味" (Taiwan de rén qíng wèi) for the warmth shared among the inhabitants here!
