Say Cheese!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

As I mentioned earlier, fondue and raclette are both specialties of the Savoy region of France (the region where Chamonix is located). The hearty melted cheese is a delicious and warm comfort food, perfect for recharging after a cold day skiing in the Alps (the mountain range in eastern France). The food fit into my knowledge of French culture almost perfectly: cheese and bread are practically their own food categories here so it only makes sense that there would be an entire meal dedicated just to them! Also, meals centered around various types of cheeses allow the French to showcase the diversity of the country, creating well-known regional specialties. I enjoyed the hearty meal and am really looking forward to trying even more cheese while here!
