Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Hindi and English are common, but at the hostel I live with Japanese, Russian, Thai and Slovak speakers.

What type of money is used here?:

Do you remember how many rupees are equal to one U.S. dollar?

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

You all know how much water costs here, but more often than not I'm buying candy instead of water! Small cough drops, jellies and hard candies are 1 rupee each. Individual fancy chocolates are around five rupees each.

What was the best meal this week?:

Can you guess? Kentucky Fried Chicken! I had chicken wings, popcorn chicken and chicken strips. In India, ketchup is served with chicken. Most of the time the food I'm served at the hostel is vegetarian so this is the first time in a long time when I have had meat.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I've been listening to two songs on repeat:

"Dama Dam Mast Kalandar", by The Nooran Sisters. Some of the girls at the school will be singing this song at an upcoming event this month.

"First World Problems", by Chance The Rapper.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My favorite part of the week was skyping with you! I also had a great time at the local fair. One of the vendors gave me a free fake tattoo.
