The activity I enjoyed the most this week was having conversations with local university students in Tangier and Rabat. We discussed a wide range of topics from our favorite American movies to how elections work in each of our countries. We provided each other with a better understanding of our home country's culture by talking about what it is like to grow up in the United States and Morocco.
I read menus at restauraunts in Arabic, and with the help of a translator, I was able to order the food that I wanted.
I played soccer with the kids in this rural village I visited in the Rif mountains. We played with a deflated soccer ball on a little dirt path. We had so much fun because for the kids playing with Americans was like a dream-come-true for them!
When I went to Morocco, I was expecting to fall back one hour in time because of the change in time zone from Spain, but the Moroccan government decided to abolish daylight savings time for the country just two days before the time change was set to take place.
