I traveled about 1,300 miles this week, from Granada, Spain to Morocco where I zigzaged through the country before returning to Granada,
I have traveled almost 9,000 miles on this journey so far, and with trips to Paris, Berlin and Brussles coming up, thousands of more miles will be added to that journey.
I took a bus from Granada, Spain to the Port of Tarifa where I took a ferry across the Mediterranean Sea to Tangier, Morocco. The ferry ride covered 24.3 miles, so it only took me about 45 minutes to change continents from Europe to Africa! In Morocco, I traveled from city to city in a van and got around on foot in each city I visited.
The most interesting place I visited this week was a rural village outside of Rabat, Morocco in the Rif mountains. While there, I had lunch with a local family, and with the help of a translator, we talked about the daily life for the families living in rural areas of Morocco compared to the city. This was a humbling experience for me because it made me realize how lucky I am to have lived in the United States my entire life and have everyday access to basic necessities such as running water. In this village, they had no running water and limited electricity.
