How was the weather this week?:

Mostly sunny, with lots of wind! Technically, it’s winter in the Peruvian Andes. But here, close to the equator, winter isn’t necessarily colder than summer. Instead, we have two seasons: a dry season (“winter”) and a wet season (“summer”). The dry season, or winter, is actually warmer during the daytime because it’s very sunny and the sun is particularly strong high up in the mountains. On the other hand, nights during the dry season are quite cold, and you need plenty of blankets to stay warm in bed. September is also a very windy month in the Andes, which means, even if it’s 50 degrees outside, it can feel 10 degrees colder because of the cold gusts of wind hitting your body.

While the week was mostly sunny, we’ve had some very strange weather lately. For example, a hailstorm recently hit my town, which is quite unusual for this time of year. It hailed so much that it looked like snow. Check out the photo!
