English is spoken in Australia. However, Australians speak English with a thick accent very similiar to a British one. They often pronounce words quite differently from the way we are used to in the United States. For example, Australians call McDonald's "Macca's" and they call breakfast "brekkie."
The Australian dollar (AUD) is the money used to buy things here! The Australian dollar is similar to the U.S. dollar, but looks a bit different. For example, some of the dollars have pictures of kangaroos and queens on them!
Water is very inexpensive here, it is very affordable. However, Australians prefer to drink bubbly water. Every time I eat at a restaurant, the waiter asks if I would like regular or bubbly water. I always choose bubbly, it is like soda but with a different taste!
My favorite meal this week was a hot cross bun. Hot cross buns are a local favorite here in Australia. They are warm bread rolls, with a hint of cinamon and sugar. They are most famously enjoyed with a tall glass of milk!
