The main language in Avilés is Spanish, though there are some signs that have the local Asturian language on it. Also, due to the presence of religious pilgrims passing through, other languages like English, French and Italian can be heard from time to time.
The money used here is the euro, just like the rest of Spain and Asturias.
The average cost for a bottle of water would be around 1.15€.
The best meal I had this week came from an Asian-fusion restaurant in Avilés. It was fried dim sum with chicken curry and a mozzarella-like cheese. Then we had fried rice for our entreé. Yum!
I listened to some pop and folk alternative music on my way to work. It helps me stay awake on the early morning bus to school.
I had a lot of fun working with the teachers that are a part of an international program for high schools around Europe. I am working with the teachers who need the most help when it comes to writing things in English, as some of the teachers actually don't speak English.
Exploring Avilés was also amazing because it has a beautiful Old Quarter that is well preserved.
