Neih hou (hello)! My name is Scott and I am an exchange student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in a special region of China called Hong Kong. I am a senior in college studying civil engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, located in the state of Missouri.

I have chosen to study in Hong Kong for a semester to learn more about how to design high-rise buildings, which you might call skyscrapers. Similar to New York City, Hong Kong is home to many skyscrapers, and has been called the most vertical city in the world, which makes it the perfect place to learn more about the structural design of high-rise buildings.

First, a little bit about me. I was born in Germany on a U.S. military base (both of my parents were in the U.S. Army), but have lived in the state of Missouri for most of my life. I have three siblings, one dog and one cat. My parents are both remarried, which makes for a large family, and a lot of family gatherings on holidays!

Some of my hobbies include playing board games, long distance running and watching college basketball. My favorite team is the Syracuse Orange, and I hope to one day watch them play a home game in the Carrier Dome!
