Because Life is Brighter with Good Food! Canada's National Dish!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I would say that it felt comforting to eat this dish. Like something that you would eat when you want a tasty treat that for some reason also seems to have ingredients that shouldn't go well together!

Having gone to school in Minnesota and then lived in Chicago for five years, I had already tried some sort of Poutine. However, having it in Canada was a different experience, and the flavors were more intense. For one, the gravy seemed to be creamier in Canada compared to the one I had tried in the U.S.A. From my personal experience, I would say that having Poutine reminds me of those days in Minnesota when I would hear the birds chirping, as I enjoyed a bowl of Poutine at a restaurant close to my college.

How is the food prepared?:

This dish is very simple to make. You just have to make your french fries, add some cheese curds, and pour some brown gravy on top… and, voila! you have yourself some tasty Poutine!

As I already mentioned, this preparation is for a simpler Poutine; however, it is up to each person to decide whether they want to add other ingredients to their dish.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Yes, Poutine is highly tied to the local environment in Quebec because it evokes a sense of pride for the Quebecois community. It feels as if, in a way, they use Poutine as a symbol to show the fusion of cultures that make up Quebec and its French-inspired culture.
