Did you know that Canada has over 360 million hectares of forest? That's equivalent to almost 4,500 times the size of New York City. Can you imagine?
So, it isn't any wonder that many Canadians choose to spend some of their weekends exploring the beautiful nature around their communities. Let me tell you a bit more about this fact...
From some of my friends in Canada, I learned that one of the best things to do around Quebec City, besides exploring its history, is to go on a hike around one of the nearby parks, waterfalls or canyons. Even the city itself has various parks and natural landmarks. One important landmark to note is the majestic St. Lawrence River, which connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
As I mentioned in the introduction, Canada has vast natural areas. Additionally, from my experience, many Canadians seem to be concerned about their natural environment. This fact creates a tradition of taking care of nature and ensuring that there are various protected national parks.
