English and Irish-Gaelic are the two main languages. Gaelic is much more common out here in the country than in the big cities like Dublin and Cork.
In Ireland, we use the euro, which is the common European currency.
About one euro.
Today my mom, my sister and I made vichyssoise, which is leaks, onions and potatoes sauteed in butter, which is then mixed with salt and pepper, broth and milk. It is a creamy green soup, except rather than pureeing it all together, we left it a little chunky for texture. We love changing recipes to see what we like best. Vichyssoise was created in the south of France and my mom learned how to make it when she was studying abroad in France when she was 17. She still loves to make it and now she loves making it with my sister and me. Making food is a great way to spend time together!
My sister has been telling me that I have to listen to more traditional Irish music while traveling through Ireland, so she has been playing the Dubliners, the High Kings and the Blarney Lads. Irish music is so lively and is so fun to dance to!
