This week I traveled from Cork to Dublin, which was two and a half hours by train. Then we drove from Dublin to County Meath, which is only about an hour from Dublin. Afterward, we went to County Roscommon and then into County Galway. The farm we are staying on tonight is in County Galway and is 245 kilometers (150 miles) from Cork.
In Ireland, I have traveled as far as County Roscommon. Can you find County Roscommon on a map of Ireland?
My mom rented a car to drive us around. It's nice to be in a car, but the roads are very small in Ireland and there is often a stone wall on both sides of the road. It's sometimes very scary! Yesterday we actually got a flat tire because our car hit a huge rock.
This week I visited Trim Castle, which is the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland and was built in 1172. Inside the keep, they had dioramas showing the different expansions of the castle over the centuries. The keep, which is the building in the very center of the castle complex, had three floors. Now the floors have disappeared and all that remains are the stone walls, so it looks like one big room.
