The primary language spoken here is Spanish. Although, because parts of Santa Marta have many European tourists, I also heard quite a bit of German and French, with some English, as well.
We use Colombian pesos, although some tourist locations may accept US Dollars.
Usually, 1000 pesos at a grocery store (25 US cents).
The best meal this week was Mexican birria tacos (this is the first time I have had good birria tacos in Colombia).
I listened to a lot of vallenato, cumbia, and reggaeton. My favorite cumbia artist is Toto la Momposina.
My favorite activity was surfing!
I read "The Message" by Ta-Nehisi Coates (which I am reading for my book club) as well as, "When My Brother Was an Aztec" by Natalie Diaz.
